Alexandria, Louisiana is located near the geographic center of the state. While the town itself is around 50,000 people, the surrounding metro area is actually closer to 150,000 in population. The state of Louisiana offers a generous tax incentive package for films shot on location (up to 35 percent in tax credits), and the state film office is very welcoming to new projects. Alexandria’s warm climate and close proximity to other major cities like Baton Rouge and New Orleans make it a promising alternative spot for aspiring film producers, film directors, and film editors to learn the trade, as opposed to relocating elsewhere.
