Located in the southern tier region of upstate New York, the town of Elmira rests near the Pennsylvania border and hosts around 30,000 people. Although a small town by most standards, the Elmira area is home to several production companies, and is convenient to a wide range of great locations for filming--including mountains, lakes, forests, and several major cities. Movies, commercials, TV shows and documentaries are filmed all over New York on a regular basis, including in Elmira and the surrounding areas. Some of the films that have done location shooting in this region include The Thomas Crown Affair, Wings on the Wind, Proud, The Sure Thing, Liebestraum and Shades of Darkness, to name a few.
FILM CONNECTION of Elmira utilizes the mentor-extern approach. During our inexpensive, 6-month course, you'll be paired with a working film or television professional who serves as your personal instructor and mentor, guiding you through hands-on training on real film and video shoots. Along the way, you'll make valuable connections with other industry pros--connections that can lead to future employment.
