What’s better than a film school? A film school that partners you up with local filmmaking professionals to enhance your education. That’s what we do at Ft. Myers-Naples Film Connection. We’ve got two tracks that pair you up with mentors who will guide your progress. The first is our 6-month behind-the-scenes track for those who want to learn a specific aspect of filmmaking like screenwriting, cinematography, or editing. But if you want to be a director, get a load of our 8-month director track. Under the guidance of several mentors, you’ll write, direct, edit, and your own project before industry executives in Los Angeles! No other film program offers the total filmmaking package like the Film Connection!
Situated on Florida's southwest coast, the cities of Ft. Myers and Naples and their surrounding metropolitan areas host nearly 1 million people--the 62nd largest DMA in the nation. The warm tropical climate and scenic views of the Gulf of Mexico make this a great place for location filming. Several film and television production companies call the Ft. Myers-Naples area home, and state and local film commission offices offer their resources to this film-friendly area. Ft. Myers-Naples can be a surprising alternative for people who are considering a career in filmmaking as a film director, film producer, film editor, or cameraman, but who prefer not to relocate somewhere like Los Angeles to go to film school.
Several feature films have been shot in the Ft. Myers-Naples area, including Blue Sky, Day of the Dead, Just Cause and Still Green.
