The city is close to interesting natural scenery, as well as major cities like New Orleans and Baton Rouge, making it a good hub for location filming–and the warm weather fed by the Gulf of Mexico makes Lafayette good for year-round outdoor film shoots. Lafayette also benefits from the agressive support of state and local film offices, and the state of Louisiana itself is highly film-friendly, offering generous tax incentives for films made in state. These factors all combine to make Lafayette a suprisingly good choice for aspiring film producers, film directors and film editors who desire the opportunities to advance their careers without having to relocate to Los Angeles or New York.
