Mankato, Minnesota is located in the southern part of the state, about an hour and a half southwest of the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, and is home to about 36,000 people. Although relatively small in size, it is also home to several production companies and is central to both urban and rural areas, making for diversity in locations for filming. If you are considering a career in filmmaking as a film director, film producer, film editor, or cameraman–but would rather avoid the craziness of Los Angeles or New York–Mankato makes an excellent alternative spot to learn filmmaking, thanks to FILM CONNECTION.
