The Film Connection teams you up with a professional screenwriter, an editor, and two mentors to help you make the movie you want to make. And the best part? The end of the program is you and a studio exec in a room. And what are you doing? You’re pitching him your movie. BOOM.
The cities of Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Newport News, Virginia serve to anchor the Hampton Roads metropolitan area, the 43rd largest DMA in the nation. Located on opposing shores of a large natural harbor connected with the Chesapeake Bay, the area provides plenty of urban and natural backdrops for filming locations. Several production companies make their home in this area, and a significant number of movies, TV shows, and documentaries do location filming in and around the Norfolk-Portsmouth-Newport News area. A few of these films include Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain, Navy Seals, Atlantis Down, and The Bill Collector, to name a few. TV production is no stranger to this area, either; episodes of Cops, WWF Raw, and Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives have been shot here, among others.
Some of our graduates have gone on to become film directors, script writers, and production company owners. Others are creating and producing their own films across genres like documentary, drama, comedy, action, and animation
