Want to learn what it takes to work behind the scenes in the Savannah filmmaking scene? Then hop aboard Film Connection Film School in Savannah, GA. Select our 6-month track and you will be partnered up with working film professionals who will guide you and your education. These unique one-on-one relationships are the core of our program and will provide you with industry contacts that will make you attractive to any potential employers.
Our 8-month director program goes even further. Like the six-month track, you get paired up with local mentors. But our director program also adds dream mentors to the mix. These are Los Angeles industry professionals who can really bring your project into the big leagues. Once you have your project in hand at the completion of the course, you will then be flown out to L.A. to meet with your dream mentors and hone your pitch. Then, in an opportunity that's never been heard of before, you will get a chance to pitch your idea to an industry exec, someone whose job it is to give the thumbs up or thumbs down to projects in Hollywood. Savannah, Georgia is located on Georgia's Atlantic coast, a seaport city hosting a population of roughly 135,000 people. Its rich, historic architecture, warm climate, and beautiful nearby coastal scenery make Savannah a favorite location filmmaking spot for many major film productions. The State of Georgia makes it easy, as well, offering generous tax incentives for filmmakers who shoot in Savannah or other places. If you are considering a career in filmmaking as a film director, film producer, film editor, or cameraman, Savannah, Georgia is an excellent connection point for you, and a great alternative to relocating to the craziness of other filmmaking hubs like Los Angeles or New York.
Some of the well-known movies that have been filmed in Savannah include Forrest Gump, The Legend of Bagger Vance, Forces of Nature, Glory, and The Last Song--just to name a few. In addition, this area is no stranger to television production, hosting such shows as All My Children and the famed mini-series Roots.
