Shreveport, Louisiana is a city of about 200,000 people, located in far northwest Louisiana near the Texas and Arkansas borders. Shreveport is quite possibly the film-friendliest city within the film-friendliest state in the U.S., outside of Los Angeles and New York. Not only is Louisiana aggressively attracting film production with extremely generous tax incentives, but Shreveport has gone the extra mile by providing a helpful film office, as well as numerous sound stages and filming locations around town. If you desire a career in filmmaking as a film producer, film director, or film editor–but would rather avoid relocating to Los Angeles or New York–you could not ask for a more prime location than Shreveport.
Many major movies, commercials, TV shows, and documentaries are filmed all over Shreveport; in fact, it has garnered the nickname “Anywhere, USA” because Shreveport has successfully reproduced film settings ranging from Guantanamo Bay to the North Pole. Some of the well-known movies that have been filmed in Shreveport include: I Love You Phillip Morris, The Mist, Year One, Leaves of Grass, W., Interview with the Vampire, and Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, just to name a few.
Television production is no stranger to Shreveport, either. Some of the television series shot here include True Blood, The Gates, and made-for-TV movies The Initiation of Sarah and Queen Sized.
