“Working through the second act was tough, but my mentor really helped me unlock the emotional arc of the story.”
Learn film production in California directly from an industry pro, in the real world, not a classroom. One-on-one mentorship. Build Industry Connections and Gain Real Experience.
The Film Connection in California is an innovative film school that actually connects you to the film industry. Instead of putting you in a classroom, we place you as a working extern inside a REAL California film production company, and we pair you for one-on-one instruction with a seasoned film industry pro with years of experience! In other words, we help break you into the film industry by training you inside it!
Whether you want to work in film as a film editor, a cinematographer, a screenwriter, a producer or director, we our film school in California can place you as an extern with someone who specializes in your field of interest. You’ll learn on-the-job, and on the set, directly from people who do film for a living! You’ll also have the chance to make important industry connections that can further your career. And if your dream is to direct your own film, our curriculum and your mentor will guide you step by step through the process of developing your own film idea—and then we’ll give you the opportunity to pitch that idea to REAL HOLLYWOOD FILM EXECUTIVES.
Of course, we have the biggest film industry hub in the world right in our backyard, and our corporate headquarters are in Los Angeles. But you don’t have to live in L.A. to learn filmmaking from us. Major motion pictures and television shows are shot on location throughout the state, and we have mentors available to train you in San Diego, San Francisco, Bakersfield, Palm Springs, Sacramento, Chico, Eureka, or just about anywhere else you happen to live. And if your goal is to make films in Hollywood, we can help with that, too!
1. THE WAY WE TRAIN YOU. With the Film Connection, you don’t spend a single day in a classroom. Your classes all take place on-the-job and on the set, with private instruction from your mentor. You’ll have a structured curriculum (along with homework), but with our film school, the “real” education happens by working with your mentor on real productions.
2. THE PRICE. We don’t believe in forcing students to take on huge amounts of debt in order to attend film school. We think debt is the quickest way to bury your dreams, so we work to keep your costs as low as possible. Since we have no central campus to maintain, almost all your costs go directly to your training. This means we can charge an extremely affordable tuition rate, allowing you to go to school with little or no debt.
Think of it: a chance to learn filmmaking directly from experienced film industry professionals. The chance to become an industry insider WHILE YOU ARE LEARNING, instead of banging on the doors after you graduate and hoping someone notices. The chance to develop your own film and pitch it DIRECTLY TO HOLLYWOOD. All for an incredibly low tuition rate. If you’re ready to get started on your new film career, the California Film Connection is ready to help! APPLY NOW FOR FREE to get started.
Some of our graduates have gone on to become film directors, script writers, and production company owners. Others are creating and producing their own films across genres like documentary, drama, comedy, action, and animation
